What is Invisalign® ?
The Invisalign System is a virtually invisible device for aligning your teeth. Using sophisticated 3D computer technology, Invisalign allows you to visualize your entire treatment plan based on your Invisalign practitioner's prescription, from the initial position of your teeth to their desired final position.
Fingerprints of your teeth taken by the Itero scanner at the Brussels Smile Clinic are transmitted to Align Technology. Then, a series of transparent aligners are custom-made for your teeth allowing them to be moved little by little.
Each aligners must be worn for about ten to fifteen days before being replaced by the next one in the series, until the teeth gradually reach the prescribed final position. The duration of the treatment varies according to your specific needs and must be defined by your Invisalign practitioner.
Invisalign aligners are custom-made orthodontic appliances manufactured by Align Technology Inc.
Each patient's aligners are unique and can only be used by that patient. Each aligner is manufactured according to the dentist's prescription. Aligners are removable and periodically renewed devices used to correct a patient's orthodontic malocclusion by moving or holding each treatable and malpositioned tooth.

How does Invisalign work?
Invisalign aligners move teeth through a series of precisely controlled movements. Unlike traditional braces, Invisalign treatment controls not only the movement for each aligner, but also its speed. At each step, only certain teeth can move, depending on the Invisalign treatment plan for that particular step. This allows forces to be applied effectively.

What are the advantages of Invisalign?
Invisalign aligners are virtually invisible and almost no one will notice that you are wearing them.
In addition, Invisalign aligners are removable, so you can eat and drink whatever you want during treatment by simply removing them. You can also remove the aligners to brush and floss your teeth as usual and maintain good oral hygiene.
Unlike traditional fixed braces, Invisalign has no rings or wires. This means you spend less time at your Invisalign practitioner to make adjustments.
Oral hygiene is improved because you have to brush your teeth after each meal before putting your aligners back on.
Finally, the Invisalign system allows you to visualize a virtual image of your results and treatment plan before you begin treatment so that you can see the appearance of your teeth once the treatment is completed.

Dr. Declercq has more than 700 successfully treated cases and is one of the most experienced practitioners in Belgium.
Is the treatment painful?
The Invisalign treatment is not painful because the movements are very gentle. Some tension in the temporo-mandibular joint is noticeable.
Most patients experience dental pain for a few days at the beginning of each stage. This is normal. It is a sign that the dental movements are going well. This pain should gradually disappear a few days after the new alignment is put in place.
Are there any dietary restrictions?
In general, no. Unlike traditional braces, you can eat and drink what you want because you remove the aligners.
To avoid loosening the cleats on the mobilized teeth, it is recommended to avoid eating dried fruit.
How old is the company?
Align Technology Inc, the company that manufactures Invisalign, was founded in 1997.
What material are the aligners made of and what do they look like?
The transparent aligners are made of a high-strength medical grade thermoplastic material developed specifically for the Invisalign® System. The aligners are made to measure for you and fit perfectly to your teeth.
Care and cleaning
Aligners should be brushed with your toothbrush and toothpaste before putting them in your mouth.
Rinse each aligner thoroughly under water after each cleaning. We also recommend that you use the cleaning system for your Invisalign aligners once a week, or as needed.
Do not use excessively corrosive denture cleansers which can damage the surface of the aligners, altering their shade and making them visible.
Always remove your aligners before eating or drinking. You do not need to remove your aligners to drink fresh water.
